Meet the Artist
My driving force
I believe that habit and habitat draw a veil over our eyes, we become accustomed to the things we see everyday that eventually we fail to see them properly at all.
My single greatest driving force behind my work is to pull back the veil on our surroundings by capturing a snap shot that reveals the beauty and quirkiness of British life.
my PHILOSOPHY
My true passion lies in the processes of drawing. I enjoy the freedom of using textiles as a medium much as I would with a pencil or a brush, I aim to create the same expressionism in my textile work.
My love of all things textile led me to successfully gain a BA(Hons) degree in Textile & Surface Design in 2007.
I have been working as a full time designer/maker since 2008 creating contemporary textile art from my home based studio based in the seaside town of Eastbourne, East Sussex.
I produce my textile work using freehand Machine embroidery combined with traditional hand embroidery.
I still enjoy exploring the boundaries of embroidered textiles and have recently I have been developing my skills with other mixed media techniques in conjunction with my embroidery.
I have worked on a variety of projects including working as a visiting lecturer, producing sample work for design studios and I have proudly exhibited my work internationally and also created work for brands such as John Lewis and The View from the Shard gift shop.
